About

Born in West London in 1951, Collins started drumming at five and spent his early teens as a professional actor, playing the Artful Dodger in Oliver! on the West End. He joined Genesis as drummer in 1970, then stepped up as lead singer in 1975 after Peter Gabriel left. A decade later, spurred by a broken marriage and a love of soul, he launched a solo career that turned him into one of the defining voices of adult contemporary pop: Face Value, No Jacket Required, and ...But Seriously sold tens of millions.
