About this person
Neymar emerged from Santos as a teenage sensation in 2009, leading them to the 2011 Copa Libertadores title before Europe came calling. At Barcelona from 2013, he formed the MSN trio with Messi and Suárez and helped complete the continental treble in 2014-15, finishing joint top scorer in both the Champions League and Copa del Rey. Paris Saint-Germain paid a world-record €222 million for him in 2017, but injuries disrupted his six years there - he won three Ligue 1 titles yet never lifted the Champions League, coming closest as runners-up in 2020. For Brazil, he became the all-time top scorer with 80 goals and top assist provider with 59 across 130 caps, won Olympic gold in 2016, and appeared at four World Cups before retiring from international football in 2026. After a brief stint at Saudi side Al-Hilal in 2023, he returned to Santos in January 2025, closing the circle where it began.
