He scored the goal that won Spain the World Cup in 2010 - extra time, 116th minute, against the Netherlands in Johannesburg. That alone would secure the name.

About this person

Iniesta left his birthplace for Barcelona's La Masia academy as a child and broke into the first team at 18 in 2002. He became a fixture during the 2004-05 title run, then helped deliver a league and Champions League double the next season. By 2008-09 he was central to Barcelona's first treble, the start of a Guardiola-era dynasty built on tiki-taka and a midfield trio that would dominate for seven years. He won 33 trophies with the club - nine La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues - more silverware than any Spanish player in history. His 2010 was nearly perfect: Champions League winner, World Cup winner with that final goal against the Dutch, runner-up for the Ballon d'Or. At Euro 2012 he was named Player of the Tournament as Spain retained the crown. After 22 years at Barcelona he moved to Vissel Kobe in 2018, then Emirates in 2023, retiring in October 2024 with 131 caps and over 1,000 career appearances behind him.
