About this person
Müller joined Bayern Munich's academy at ten in 2000 and spent seventeen seasons in the first team after Louis van Gaal promoted him in 2009-10, immediately winning a league and cup double. He scored in the 2012 Champions League final - a loss on penalties - then netted 23 goals the following year as Bayern swept the treble. At the 2010 World Cup he took the Golden Boot and Best Young Player award with five goals in six matches, Germany finishing third. Four years later he scored five more and collected the Silver Ball as Germany won the tournament. In 2019-20 he broke the Bundesliga assist record with 21 and added 14 goals in Bayern's second treble. He left in 2025 with 756 appearances, 250 goals, 223 assists, and 35 trophies - more than any German footballer in history.
