Born 29 January 1966, Romário de Souza Faria started in Brazil before moving to PSV Eindhoven in 1988, where he hit 165 goals in 167 games across five seasons and three Eredivisie titles. In 1993 he joined Barcelona, slotted into Johan Cruyff's "Dream Team" beside Hristo Stoichkov, and won La Liga while topping the scoring charts with 30 in 33. A year later he delivered Brazil's fourth World Cup, named player of the tournament and FIFA World Player of the Year.
