Jack Roy started as a stand-up at the Fantasy Lounge in New York, grinding through the 1960s and 1970s as a late-night talk show regular before becoming a Las Vegas headliner. The monologues on getting no respect - delivered in a strangled voice, tugging at his collar - became his signature, and in 1980 two things hit: his album No Respect won the Grammy for Best Comedy Album, and Caddyshack gave him a breakout film role as a boorish nouveau riche golfer. A string of comedies followed through the 1990s (Back to School, Easy Money, Ladybugs), plus a rare turn as an abusive father in Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers. He received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 2002, but health troubles slowed him, and he died in 2004 after a month in a coma following heart valve surgery complications.
