About

James Douglas Muir Leno spent years doing stand-up before NBC chose him in 1992 to replace Johnny Carson as host of The Tonight Show. He held the desk until September 2009, when Conan O'Brien took over and Leno moved to a primetime talk show at 10:00 p.m. O'Brien turned down NBC's offer to let Leno do a half-hour lead-in, sparking the 2010 Tonight Show conflict that ended with Leno back behind the desk on March 1, 2010.
