About

Born August 17, 1943, De Niro trained at HB Studio, Stella Adler Conservatory, and Lee Strasberg's Actors Studio before breaking through in Mean Streets in 1973. A year later he won Best Supporting Actor for The Godfather Part II, the first male to win for an Italian-language performance. Six years later Raging Bull brought him Best Actor. The run that followed — Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, The King of Comedy, Once Upon a Time in America, Goodfellas, Heat, Casino — built a filmography so dense with classics that six of his films now sit in the National Film Registry.
