Sia Kate Isobelle Furler started in Adelaide's acid jazz band Crisp in the mid-1990s, released a debut album when the group dissolved in 1997, then moved to London to sing for Zero 7. Two more albums followed in 2001 and 2004, but wider notice only came after she relocated to New York and released Some People Have Real Problems in 2008 and We Are Born in 2010, both certified gold in Australia. Uncomfortable with the attention, she pulled back from performing and became the pen behind "Titanium," "Diamonds," "Wild Ones," and "Pretty Hurts." Her 2014 return, 1000 Forms of Fear, debuted at number one in the US and spawned "Chandelier" - accompanied by videos starring child dancer Maddie Ziegler that became a visual signature. This Is Acting arrived in 2016 with the chart-topping "Cheap Thrills," followed by a tour built around Ziegler's movement and a face-obscuring wig Sia now wears in public to guard her privacy. She's released albums through 2024's Reasonable Woman, directed the poorly received film Music in 2021, and collected ten ARIA Awards and nine Grammy nominations along the way.
