About this person

Born 18 September 1989 in the Republic of the Congo, Serge Jonás Ibaka Ngobila was drafted 24th overall by Seattle in 2008 - a pick that became Oklahoma City's before he ever wore the jersey. He turned into a defensive centerpiece there, earning three NBA All-Defensive First Team nods and leading the league in blocks twice. He also claimed Spanish citizenship and suited up for Spain internationally. The hardware came later: in 2019 he won an NBA championship with Toronto, the franchise's first. He finished his career back in Europe with Real Madrid.
