Peter Henry Fonda was born February 23, 1940, into Hollywood's first family and started on stage, winning a New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Blood, Sweat and Stanley Poole. Easy Rider in 1969 brought him an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay and made him the face of a generation's restlessness. He directed himself in the revisionist Western The Hired Hand in 1971, then spent the next decade as an action lead in films like Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry and Futureworld.
