Saying 'no' is so heartbreaking.
I look back and think I'm a smart person! What the hell was I thinking?
I'm very, very blessed. But my safety, my privacy, and my respect are three things that I feel like are trying to be taken away from me right now.

Britney Jean Spears was born December 2, 1981, landed on The All-New Mickey Mouse Club as a kid, and signed with Jive Records in 1997. "...Baby One More Time" made her a phenomenon in 1999 - one of the best-selling singles in history - and by 2001 she was the best-selling teenage artist of all time. She starred in Crossroads in 2002, won a Grammy for "Toxic" off In the Zone in 2003, then hit a public breaking point that led to a conservatorship in 2008. For the next thirteen years she released albums, topped the Hot 100 in three separate decades, and played Vegas residencies while her father and a legal apparatus controlled her life. She testified against her family in court, the conservatorship dissolved in 2021, and in 2024 she announced she was done with music. Two years later she sold her catalogue for a reported $200 million.
