The lukewarm baths at 25 to 27° serve to arouse the slumbering sensibility of fibre in the apparent dead (frozen, drowned, suffocated) which benumbed the sensation of the nerves.
German physician known for creating homeopathy
He invented homeopathy — the system where substances are diluted to near-nothingness and prescribed on the principle that like cures like. It's been called pseudoscience for two centuries, but millions still swear by it.
Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann was born in Germany on 10 April 1755 and trained as a medical doctor. At some point he developed homeopathy, a system of alternative medicine built on extreme dilution and the idea that a substance causing symptoms in a healthy person can cure those symptoms in a sick one. The method gained followers and fierce critics in equal measure. Hahnemann died on 2 July 1843, leaving behind a practice that modern science rejects but that persists worldwide.
