About this person
Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija started writing songs and playing guitar as a teenager in Mexico, drawing from regional styles that rarely crossed over. His first two albums, Ah y Qué? (2020) and Efectos Secundarios (2021), earned him a foothold, but it was "El Belicón" with Raúl Vega that began to shift the ground. By 2022, collaborations with Natanael Cano - "AMG" and "PRC" - went viral on TikTok and pushed him onto the Billboard Hot 100. In April 2023, "Ella Baila Sola" with Eslabón Armado became the first regional Mexican song to crack the chart's top 10, peaking at No. 4, and that same week he landed eight simultaneous entries, a record for a Mexican act. His third album Génesis (2023) won him a Grammy and broke the Billboard 200's top 10, followed by Éxodo (2024) at No. 5. He fuses Sinaloa sierreño with Latin hip hop and reggaeton, a hybrid that revived the corrido and made him Mexico's most-streamed artist of all time.
