She's been Mexico's sweetheart since childhood - a voice that crossed from teen pop to ranchera without blinking, an actress who owned telenovelas for three decades, and the face of a national charity marathon year after year. Four decades in, she's still called "the Americas' Girlfriend."

About this person

Lucero Hogaza León started at ten on Televisa kid shows, then broke through as a singer in 1982 with her debut Él, becoming a defining teen pop star of the 1980s with albums like Un Pedacito de Mí and Cuéntame. The 1990s brought her dual reign: she starred in hit telenovelas (Cuando Llega el Amor, Lazos de Amor) while releasing Latin pop records and pivoting into ranchera with Lucero de México and Cariño de Mis Cariños. She voiced Jane in the Spanish Tarzan, sang for Mulan, and from 1997 to 2004 hosted Teletón México, the country's biggest charity broadcast. The 2000s kept the momentum: more telenovelas (Alborada, Soy tu Dueña), more albums (Mi Destino, Quiéreme Tal Como Soy), and hosting gigs at the Latin Grammys and Latin American Music Awards. She coached on La Voz in 2011, racked up over 16 million records sold, and in 2025 Billboard named her one of the greatest female Latin pop artists of all time.
