Born 26 September 1948, Olivia Newton-John built her early career on soft country-pop singles like "If Not for You" and "Let Me Be There" before "I Honestly Love You" won Record of the Year in 1974. In 1978 she took the lead in Grease opposite John Travolta; the film became the highest-grossing musical of its era and its soundtrack one of the best-selling albums ever, anchored by "You're the One That I Want" and her solo "Hopelessly Devoted to You." She followed with "Magic" and "Xanadu" from the 1980 film, then pivoted hard into "Physical" in 1981—Billboard's top Hot 100 single of the decade.…
