About this person

Born 8 May 1972, Hayes formed Savage Garden in 1993 and watched their 1997 self-titled debut climb to No. 1 in Australia and spawn a string of hits including the US chart-topper "Truly Madly Deeply". The follow-up, Affirmation (1999), delivered another US No. 1 in "I Knew I Loved You" before Hayes dissolved the partnership in 2001. His first solo album Spin (2002) sold two million copies worldwide and peaked at No. 2 in the UK on the strength of "Insatiable", followed by four more studio albums including Homosexual in 2022. He published his memoir Unlovable in November 2024.
