Jessica Hilda Mauboy was born 4 August 1989 in Darwin, Northern Territory. She finished second on the fourth season of Australian Idol in 2006, signed with Sony Music Australia, and released her debut album Been Waiting in 2008 - it went double platinum and included her first number-one single, "Burn". Her second album, Get 'Em Girls (2010), leaned harder into R&B and spun off four platinum singles; Beautiful (2013) mixed dance, R&B and pop with three top-ten hits. She won an AACTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for The Sapphires in 2012, then starred in the TV drama The Secret Daughter in 2016, a role written for her - its first soundtrack made her the first Indigenous artist to top the ARIA Albums Chart. Her fourth studio album, Hilda, debuted at number one in October 2019.
