Luísa Sobral placed third on the first season of Ídolos in 2003, Portugal's answer to the Idols franchise, while still a teenager. She stepped back to study at Berklee College of Music, then returned in 2011 with The Cherry on My Cake, her debut album. The real turning point came through her brother: she composed "Amar pelos dois" for Salvador Sobral, and when he sang it at Eurovision in 2017, Portugal finally won the contest after decades of near-misses and footnotes. The victory belonged to both of them - his voice, her song, a family collaboration that rewrote the record books.
