The middle day of the days counted, so one week of news cannot move it. The line under it is the last 390 days, one point a day.
Something wrong?Twenty years in a Lakers jersey, five championships, an 81-point game that still defies belief. Kobe Bryant turned basketball into a study of obsession - the footwork, the fadeaway, the refusal to leave the court until every detail was right - and the world watched every second of it.

Born in Philadelphia to NBA player Joe Bryant, Kobe spent part of his childhood in Italy before starring at Lower Merion High School and skipping college for the 1996 draft. Charlotte picked him 13th, then traded him to Los Angeles. He won the 1997 Slam Dunk Contest, made All-Star by his second season, and despite a public feud with Shaquille O'Neal, the pair delivered three straight championships from 2000 to 2002. In 2003 he was charged with sexual assault; the criminal case was dismissed, and he settled a civil suit with an apology while maintaining the encounter was consensual. After O'Neal left in 2004, Bryant became the franchise cornerstone, led the league in scoring twice, and on January 22, 2006, dropped 81 points - third-most in NBA history. He won MVP in 2008, then back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010 as Finals MVP both times. Injuries dimmed his final years, and he retired in 2016 with both his numbers - 8 and 24 - hung in the rafters. In 2018 he won an Academy Award for Dear Basketball. On January 26, 2020, Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, along with seven others.
