Hans Max Gamper-Haessig was born in Switzerland on 22 November 1877, a versatile athlete who would carry football across borders. He founded Barcelona in 1899, then played as the club's first captain through 1903, scoring over 100 goals in just 48 matches and lifting the Copa Macaya in 1902 — the club's first silverware.
