About

James Patrick Page was born 9 January 1944 and spent the mid-1960s as one of London's most reliable session guitarists, the kind who showed up and made other people's records work. He joined the Yardbirds in 1966, stayed two years, and when that band collapsed in 1968 he founded Led Zeppelin in its place. The group ran until 1980, when drummer John Bonham died and the engine stopped. Page spent the decades after in a series of projects — the Firm, Coverdale–Page, Page and Plant — and played a 2007 Led Zeppelin reunion released as the concert film Celebration Day five years later.
