About

Jeremy John Irons trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and launched his stage career in 1969, working through Shakespeare in the West End before taking Broadway in 1984 with The Real Thing, which won him a Tony. Film came with The French Lieutenant's Woman in 1981, the same year he played Charles Ryder in Brideshead Revisited and became a name. The next decade brought Betrayal, The Mission, and the psychosexual chill of Dead Ringers, then the Academy Award in 1990 for Reversal of Fortune's Claus von Bülow.
