A left-back who scored 75 goals in 634 games and placed second for the Ballon d'Or. Facchetti turned defense into attack before it was doctrine, captained Italy to their first European Championship, and spent eighteen years at Inter — then returned to lead the club until the day he died.
Facchetti joined Inter Milan in 1960 and never left, playing every official match as a left-back until 1978. Under Helenio Herrera's "Grande Inter," he won four Serie A titles, two European Cups, and two Intercontinental Cups, forming a defensive wall with Tarcisio Burgnich in the catenaccio system while pushing forward with pace and technique that redefined the position.
