Something wrong? He never left Rome. Twenty-five years, 786 appearances, all in the same shirt - a feat so rare in modern football it borders on myth. Second-highest scorer in Italian league history, and the only player to rack up 250 Serie A goals for a single club.

Born 27 September 1976, Totti joined Roma's youth system and never looked back, spending his entire professional career at the club. A technically gifted playmaker who could operate as attacking midfielder or striker, he captained Roma to a Serie A title, two Coppa Italia trophies, and two Supercoppa titles, becoming the youngest captain in Serie A history and the club's all-time leading scorer and appearance-maker. On the international stage, he helped Italy win the 2006 World Cup and reach the Euro 2000 final, earning All-Star selections at both tournaments before retiring from the national team in 2007 to preserve his body for Roma. He collected eleven Oscar del Calcio awards, the 2007 European Golden Shoe, made Pelé's FIFA 100 list in 2004, and was named Europe's most popular footballer in 2011. When he finally hung up his boots in 2017 at age forty, the nicknames - The Golden Boy, The Emperor, The Eighth King of Rome - had long since stopped sounding like hype.
