María Emilia Mernes was born 29 October 1996 and started as lead singer of Rombai, a Uruguayan cumbia pop outfit. Two years in, she peeled away to go solo. After signing with Sony Music Latin and WK Entertainment, she released Tú Crees en Mí?, a pop and urban debut that went Platinum. In 2023 she hit number one on the Argentina Hot 100 three times: first with "En la Intimidad" alongside Big One and Callejero Fino, then "Los del Espacio" as part of a supergroup, and finally "La Original" with Tini. That same year she put out .MP3, a 2000s-influenced album that peaked at number two in Argentina. She's collected two Premios Gardel, a Premio Odeón, an MTV MIAW, and nominations at the Latin Grammys and beyond.
