About

Emanuel Swedenborg was born Emanuel Swedberg on 29 January 1688 and built a prolific career as an inventor, scientist, engineer, astronomer, and anatomist. At 53, in 1741, he entered what he called a spiritual phase; on Easter Weekend 1744 he experienced dreams and visions that culminated in a revelation: Jesus Christ had appointed him to write The Heavenly Doctrine to reform Christianity.
