Djalma Pereira Dias dos Santos emerged at Portuguesa, where he logged 510 appearances before becoming an idol at Palmeiras across nine years and 498 matches. He starred for Brazil in four World Cups, winning in 1958 and 1962, and became one of only three players — alongside Beckenbauer and Lahm — selected to three FIFA World Cup All-Star teams (1954, 1958, 1962).
