Born 30 October 1960, Diego Armando Maradona earned the nickname El Pibe de Oro as a teenager and became the first player to break the world transfer record twice — £5 million to Barcelona in 1982, £6.9 million to Napoli in 1984. He captained Argentina to the 1986 World Cup trophy, winning the Golden Ball, and earned 91 caps across four tournaments.
