About this person
Benjamin Aaron Shapiro was born January 15, 1984, and entered political media young, writing columns and eventually joining Breitbart News as editor-at-large in 2012. He left in 2016 and co-founded The Daily Wire in 2015, where he became editor emeritus and launched The Ben Shapiro Show, a daily podcast and radio program that turned him into a fixture of conservative commentary. He describes himself as economically libertarian and socially conservative, opposing abortion, gun control, same-sex marriage, transgender rights, and the Affordable Care Act while supporting capital punishment, tax cuts, and the 2003 Iraq invasion. He has condemned Hamas and praised Israel and the IDF throughout the Gaza war and the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Across 16 non-fiction books and columns for Creators Syndicate, Newsweek, and Ami Magazine, he has staked out territory on the right while distancing himself from the alt-right - a position that keeps him in the conversation and keeps the conversation loud.
