About this person
John Frank Stossel was born March 6, 1947, and started in journalism as a researcher for KGW-TV before moving to consumer reporting at WCBS-TV in New York City. He joined ABC News as a consumer editor and reporter on Good Morning America, then became a correspondent on 20/20, eventually rising to co-anchor. His style blended reporting with commentary rooted in what he calls "small L" libertarian thinking and free-market economics. In October 2009 he left ABC for Fox Business Network, where he hosted Stossel from December 2009 to December 2016. Along the way he wrote three books - Give Me a Break (2004), Myths, Lies, and Downright Stupidity (2007), and No, They Can't: Why Government Fails - But Individuals Succeed (2012) - and founded Stossel in the Classroom, an economic education site for students. In 2019 he launched StosselTV, an online channel distributed on social media.
