Axel Christofer Hedfors was born 18 December 1977 and took the name Axwell as he built a career in production and remixing. He founded Axtone Records and joined forces with Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello to form Swedish House Mafia, a trio that became synonymous with the EDM boom of the early 2010s. By 2013 he had won two DJ Awards and landed at number 19 on DJ Magazine's Top 100 DJ Poll. The work split between solo projects under his own label and the collective's massive festival runs, a double track that defined the decade's electronic landscape.
