Born September 15, 1946, Jones spent decades in smaller projects before the 1990s locked him in as a leading man built for gruff authority. He won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor playing U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard in The Fugitive in 1993, and earned three more nominations across JFK, In the Valley of Elah, and Lincoln. He anchored the Men in Black franchise as Agent K, played a Texas Ranger in the miniseries Lonesome Dove, and won an Emmy as executed murderer Gary Gilmore in The Executioner's Song. He's directed too - The Good Old Boys, The Sunset Limited - but it's the face and the voice, unsmiling and certain, that the camera keeps finding.
