Steven James Anderson played college football at the University of North Texas before turning to wrestling in 1989, moving through WCW as "Stunning" Steve Austin - a technical villain who took home television and tag titles - then landing in the WWF in 1995. They tried him as The Ringmaster first, but after he won the 1996 King of the Ring and cut the Austin 3:16 promo, the short-tempered, anti-establishment persona caught fire, and his feud with chairman Vince McMahon became the engine of the Attitude Era. He won the WWF Championship six times and the Royal Rumble three times before a neck injury at the 1997 SummerSlam and multiple knee problems forced him out of the ring in 2003. He wrestled one final match against Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38, hosts podcasts, brews beer with El Segundo, and since 2023 has raced UTVs in the desert.
