Anthony Robin McMillan took the stage name Robbie Coltrane and cut his teeth in British sketch comedy alongside Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, and Emma Thompson in Alfresco and The Comic Strip. His 1987 turn in the BBC miniseries Tutti Frutti earned his first BAFTA nomination, but it was Cracker — the ITV crime drama where he starred as criminal psychologist Dr. Eddie "Fitz" Fitzgerald from 1993 to 1996 — that made him a national figure and brought him the BAFTA Television Award for Best Actor three years running.
