Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie was born 27 May 1990 in Ijegun-Egba, Lagos State, though his roots trace to Ebonyi State. He cut his teeth in the underground, working with XProject, Konga, Slam, and Reggie Rockstone before signing to K-Solo's Igberaga Records in 2010 and dropping "Up in D Club". The track "Alubarika" with Timaya brought him into Dem Mama Records as a protégé. November 2014 saw him ink a deal with Foston Musik and release "Girlie O", the single that sharpened his profile. Three months later, on 9 February 2015, he announced a distribution deal with VP Records - a move that planted him in the same catalog as the reggae and dancehall acts who defined the sound.
