Born in Hasselt to a former F1 driver father and a karting mother, Max Verstappen tore through junior categories so fast Red Bull signed him at 17, making him the youngest driver in the sport's history when he took the grid in 2015. A mid-season promotion to the senior team in 2016 paid off instantly: he won the Spanish Grand Prix at 18, the youngest winner ever. After near-misses in 2019 and 2020, he seized his first championship in 2021 by passing Hamilton on the last lap of the season finale in Abu Dhabi, delivering the Netherlands its first world champion. The next three titles followed in procession - 2022 and 2023 saw him shatter records for consecutive wins and seasonal dominance, while 2024 brought a fourth crown despite driving the third-best car, capped by a rain-soaked masterclass in São Paulo. He finished two points shy of a fifth in 2025, but the contract runs to 2030 and the tally sits at 71 wins and counting.
