Joaquinha Lerena de la Riva was born on 25 October 1994 and started recording under the name la Joaqui, building a sound that straddled street cumbia and electronic swagger. She released two studio albums before the 2022 EP Barbie Copiloto landed "Dos Besitos", a track that caught fire domestically and stamped her as a rising force in Argentina's urban scene. The following year she linked with pop star Tini and producer Steve Aoki for "Muñecas", a crossover move that carried her name beyond Spanish-speaking radio and into the wider pop conversation.
