Russell started acting at 12 in the Western series The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters, then signed a ten-year deal with Disney in the late 1960s, churning out family comedies like The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes. His 1979 turn as Elvis Presley earned him an Emmy nomination and cracked open adult roles.
