About
Catherine Bush was writing songs at 11 and signed to EMI after Pink Floyd's David Gilmour helped fund a demo. In 1978, "Wuthering Heights" made her the first woman to top the UK chart with an entirely self-written song. The Kick Inside followed, and by 1980's Never for Ever she'd become the first British solo woman to hit number one on the album chart. She took full production control from The Dreaming onward, released Hounds of Love in 1985 with "Running Up That Hill", then disappeared for 12 years between The Red Shoes and Aerial.
