About this person
Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus was born 21 May 1997. In 2017, he entered the emPawa Africa talent incubation program and was discovered by Mr Eazi, who signed him to the label. The program gave him the launchpad; the voice did the rest. By the time he moved to Warner Music Africa - still in partnership with his own imprint, Young Legend - he'd outgrown the incubator. He writes and sings under the name Joeboy, and the trajectory from hopeful to signed artist took less than a cycle.
