Something wrong? At 19, Atlético Madrid bet €126 million on him - the fourth-most expensive transfer in football history - after a single breakout season at Benfica. About this person
João Félix came through Porto's academy before switching to Benfica at 15, breaking into the first team at 17 in 2018 and helping them win the league title in his lone season there. The €126 million move to Atlético Madrid in 2019 made him one of the most expensive players ever purchased, and he won La Liga with them in 2020-21, though his time in Spain was restless - loan spells at Chelsea and Barcelona followed before a permanent Chelsea move in 2024. A brief stint at AC Milan came next, then a 2025 transfer to Al-Nassr, where he won the Saudi Pro League title and took Player of the Season in his first year. For Portugal, he won the 2019 Nations League on home soil in his senior debut tournament, played two Euros and two World Cups, and added a second Nations League trophy in 2025.
