About
Ian Holm graduated from RADA and built his foundation with the Royal Shakespeare Company, earning a Tony in 1967 for Harold Pinter's The Homecoming. His film break came with The Bofors Gun in 1968, which won him a BAFTA, then another for playing athletics trainer Sam Mussabini in Chariots of Fire — the role that also brought an Oscar nomination. Through the '80s and '90s he threaded himself into Terry Gilliam's Brazil, Cronenberg's Naked Lunch, The Madness of King George, and curiously played Napoleon in three unrelated projects between 1974 and 2001.
