About this person
Born 15 September 1993, Schröder came up through SG Braunschweig and Phantoms Braunschweig before the Atlanta Hawks brought him to the NBA in 2013, where he spent his first five seasons. He debuted for Germany in 2014, then waited eight years to help them claim bronze at the 2022 EuroBasket - the national team's first major medal in 17 years. A year later he led Germany to its first World Cup title at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, taking tournament MVP honors. At the 2024 Paris Olympics he carried the flag alongside judoka Anna-Maria Wagner, pushed Germany to fourth place, and made the All-Star Five. In 2025 he delivered Germany the EuroBasket title. Off the court he became majority shareholder of Basketball Loewen Braunschweig in 2018 and now owns the team outright - a Braunschweig kid who bought his way back home.
