Something wrong? He made Bond brutal again. Craig's 2006 Casino Royale ditched the gadget-camp for something colder and more damaged, a reboot that split opinion at first and then ran for fifteen years across five films that redrew what the franchise could be.

Craig trained at the National Youth Theatre and graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1991, starting on stage before moving into screen work. His breakthrough came with the 1996 drama serial Our Friends in the North, followed by a string of supporting turns in Elizabeth, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Road to Perdition, Layer Cake, and Munich that built quiet momentum. In 2006 he took the Bond role in Casino Royale, a franchise reboot that earned him a BAFTA nomination and set the template for the next decade and a half: Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, No Time to Die. Between Bond outings he worked steadily - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Cowboys & Aliens, Defiance, Logan Lucky - and launched the Benoit Blanc mysteries with Knives Out in 2019. He has returned to the stage throughout, including Broadway runs in A Steady Rain, Betrayal, and Macbeth, and played Iago in Othello at the New York Theatre Workshop. His 2024 turn in the romantic drama Queer brought nominations at the Golden Globes, Critics' Choice, and SAG Awards.
