Born in 40 BC to Cleopatra VII and Mark Antony, Cleopatra Selene was named queen of Cyrenaica and Libya as a child in her parents' grand territorial gifts. After Actium and the double suicide in 30 BC, she and her brothers were taken to Rome as captives and raised in the household of Octavia the Younger — Octavian's sister and Antony's former wife.
