About this person
Carly Rae Jepsen spent her early years studying musical theatre before Canadian Idol in 2007 landed her in third place and led to a folk-inflected debut, Tug of War, in 2008. The breakthrough arrived four years later when "Call Me Maybe" turned into a global phenomenon and pulled major label deals with Schoolboy and Interscope; her second album Kiss followed with "Good Time" alongside Owl City, both charting in the top ten. She played Cinderella on Broadway for 12 weeks in 2014, then pivoted hard into '80s-inspired dance-pop with 2015's Emotion and singles like "Run Away with Me" and "I Really Like You". The years since have brought Dedicated in 2019, The Loneliest Time in 2022 with Rufus Wainwright, and a string of B-sides and companion records that cemented her as a songwriter's pop star. Her eighth album, Day and Night, arrives in 2026.
