Blake Lively was born Blake Ellender Brown on August 25, 1987, daughter of actor Ernie Lively, and made her first screen appearance in his 1998 film Sandman. Her breakthrough arrived with The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants in 2005, followed by its 2008 sequel, but it was Gossip Girl (2007-2012) that made her a name - five seasons as Serena van der Woodsen on the CW. During that run she took supporting turns in The Town (2010) and Savages (2012), then pivoted to leads: The Age of Adaline (2015), the solo-survival hit The Shallows (2016), Woody Allen's Café Society (2016), and the sharp comedic thriller A Simple Favor (2018), which earned a 2025 sequel. She directed Taylor Swift's "I Bet You Think About Me" music video in 2021, and in 2024 produced and starred in It Ends with Us opposite Justin Baldoni, a romantic drama that became a flashpoint. The question of what comes after celebrity has shadowed most of the work since.
