About this person
Amber Laura Heard was born April 22, 1986, and built a career through horror and action work, starting with All the Boys Love Mandy Lane in 2006 and continuing through films like Drive Angry and supporting turns in Pineapple Express and The Danish Girl. From 2017 to 2023 she played Mera across three DC Extended Universe films, including Aquaman and its sequel. She took on advocacy roles with the ACLU as an Artist Ambassador and served as a Human Rights Ambassador for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights starting in 2016. Her marriage to Johnny Depp lasted from 2015 to 2017, after which they accused each other of domestic abuse and fought two defamation cases - one in England where the court ruled Depp had abused Heard, and one in America where a jury found her liable for defaming him. The American trial became a cultural flashpoint, watched and debated far beyond the courtroom.
