About this person
Born 18 May 1960, Yannick Noah turned professional and spent nearly twenty years on tour, collecting 23 singles titles and 16 doubles titles. He peaked at world No. 3 in singles in July 1986 and hit No. 1 in doubles the following month. He won the French Open doubles in 1984, a year after his singles triumph. After retiring, he captained both France's Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup teams, then pivoted to music and became a chart-topping performer in France. He co-founded a charity with his mother for underprivileged children, was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2005, and is honored annually at Roland-Garros on Yannick Noah's Day. His son Joakim played in the NBA.
